Week of the Beers - Starting Sunday, November 9th

Beer with pumpkin and cookies - Week of Beers
Ahhhhh, Beer Week. For some, it's just another week in the year gone unnoticed. For beer buffs, it's like Christmas, only 10 days long. And for many in the industry it gives a wonderful opportunity for friends, chefs and some of the greatest beer makers in the world to collaborate and appreciate each other's crafts just that much more. Not to mention it’s a great excuse to ‘sample’ beers at 11 AM. We choose 6 of our favorite San Diego breweries (not an easy task) and gave them each their own Cookie Takeover Day in our shop. One cookie will represent one beer and one company for a specific day this week, starting November 9th. Now that we had the breweries chosen, the hardest part was narrowing down the perfect beer from each company for their signature cookie. I wanted to build a range of flavors for the week so I used mix of flagship and seasonal brews, and everything from stouts to IPAs. My love for beer only magnified the pleasure I had in working with these great breweries in the past month. Some I’ve had the pleasure of knowing for years, others I’ve just met, but the wonderful thing was that I felt everyone was equally excited that we were making a cookie out of their beer, as I was to be able to work with these amazing breweries. I could just feel the passion for their product exude from everyone I met, from the owners to brewers to bartenders, that passion builds all of their astounding success. Here is the weekly breakdown: November 9th Saint Archer: Beer: Coffee Brown - Coffee Stout made with Bird Rock Coffee Beans Cookie: Cocoa, Malt, Chocolate Covered Espresso Beans November 10th Mission Brewery: Beer: Grapefruit IPA - Boldly hopped IPA, citrusy and a strong grapefruit finish Cookie: Grapefruit IPA Caramels infused with real grapefruit zest, sugar crust November 11th Acoustic Ales: Beer: Shake Your Money Maker - Nut Brown Ale, dry bitter and nutty Cookie: Malt, Honey Roasted Peanuts, Dark Chocolate Drizzle November 12th Lost Abbey: Beer: Judgment Day - Quadruple Ale strong ale brewed with raisins Cookie: Golden Raisin puree, molasses, vanilla a'peels November 13th Ballast Point: Beer: Dead Ringer- Oktoberfest Marzen with bitter and burnt caramel notes Cookie: Toasted Hazelnuts, burnt caramel, toffee bits, touch of chocolate November 14th Coronado Brewery: Beer: Imperial Pumpkin Ale- Pumpkin Ale brewed with real pumpkin and spices.
